Greenspaces Map

The Greenspaces map was created utilizing the WP Go Maps plugin. Most of the configuration for the map is found by navigating to Maps → Maps and editing the Greenspaces map. Here you will be able to add and manage the markers on the map along with numerous settings. Please refer to WP Go Maps documentation for full details on how to work with the maps.

A Greensapces Map block is available in the content editor that allows the addition of the map on any page, as well as control of the content that appears in the category boxes that appear below the map. It's important to note that the title used in each category here must exactly match the category names set in Maps → Categories in order for the marker toggles to function.

In the summer of 2026, functional changes were made to the Greenspaces map and the category boxes available in Greensapces Map block are no longer in use on the live site, but they remain available to use in the block if needed in the future. The legend that now displays below the map is generated by the categories configured in Maps → Categories. The display of the legend can be toggled on or off when editing the Greenspaces map and navigating to Settings → Legends.

Map markers may be individual added, edited, or deleted when when editing the Greenspaces map and navigating to Markers. Markers can also be added or edited utilizing the import of a VSV file in Maps → Import. Below is an example import file for the Greenspaces map, for additional information on using the import function, refer to WP Go Maps documentation.

The WP Go Maps plugin utilizes Google Maps APIs configured in Google Cloud Console under the project The Hort Greenspaces Map with horthhq@gmail.com as the primary owner. It's required that an active credit card be available for the API to continue to function. While a credit card is required, The Hort's website API usage is expected to stay within the free allowance limits provided at the time the site was developed.
